“Welcome… accepted… supported…”

These are the words students use to describe the way they feel when they come to Holden.

Students who attend Holden are curious, creative, independent and bright, with significant academic potential.  Some have impediments to learning or are uninterested due to previous difficult school experiences or personal issues.  Students come from all over the Bay Area representing diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.  Most students come to us because their emotional, social or academic needs have not been met in other schools.  Other students come because Holden offers them the time and freedom to pursue their interests within and outside of the school day.  Students are awarded high school credit not only for academic classes on site, but also for the learning experiences they have outside of school.
