Core Staff

Casey McCarroll, M.A. is the Transition Counselor here at Holden and teaches SCHOOL ENERGY and three LIFE SKILLS classes. Working individually and in group settings, Casey’s mission at Holden is to help students create inspiring, connected, meaningful, successful lives after Holden. He received his MA from the California Institute of Integral Studies in Counseling Psychology. Casey has a private mentoring practice for young people and is also a leader for Stepping Stones Project, running coming-of-age groups for middle-school boys. His interests include rites of passage work, reading, building things, and spending time in nature for reflection and adventure.

Daniel Dickinson teaches WORLD STUDIES, SPELLING, STORY TELLING, FILM, OPEN ART STUDIO and IMPROV as well as works in the office. He studied Theatre Arts at Hayward State University and trained at the Jean Shelton Actor’s Studio in San Francisco. He has been a vital part of Holden since 1990. He has performed extensively in Bay Area theatre since 1976 and remains active as a director and an actor, directing primarily with teens.  He enjoys reading, history, eclectic music, drawing and David Lynch films.

Daniel Lemke teaches PHYSICS, GEOGRAPHY, and PRE-CALCULUS WITH TRIGONOMETRY, as well as co-runs our BYU online studies program and summer program. He is studying Mathematics and Computer Science at San Francisco State University, and music (jazz and classical guitar) at the San Francisco Community Music Center. He has been teaching at Holden since 2006.

Jason Leach Jason Leach is a bicycle enthusiast and an experimental musician. He holds a B.A. in Women and Gender Studies from SFSU. Here at Holden High he teaches: ENGLISH, CHEMISTRY, LIFE MATH, SOCIAL SCIENCE and elective courses. He is a certified proctor for BYU and runs a one-hour a week class to assist students with their online coursework. Jason also co-facilitates the academic portion of the Holden Summer Program.

Our Office Administrator Megan Montana graduated from Livermore High School and has many years of administrative experience including events coordination. She is also a Certified Massage Therapist and enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, hockey, sci-fi, cooking, music, painting, drawing, writing, restoring antiques, and reading. She volunteers at least 10 hours a month to educate people about the bible and is know as “Auntie Doctor Megan” to two wonderfully awesome nephews that have become two of her greatest joys in life.

Rikki R. Edelman, M.A. teaches ENGLISH COMPOSITION, ALGEBRA, US GOVERNMENT, BIOLOGY, as well as electives and is involved in Holden’s community garden project. She has a B.A. in English Language Arts and Anthropology, a Teaching Credential in Secondary English, and an M.A. in Education all from UC Berkeley. She also holds a certificate in Horticulture from Merritt College and has done continuing education in Permaculture and Green Building. Her outside interests include parenting, writing prose and poetry, folklore, gardening, environmental sustainability, health food and social justice. She is a member of the Mycological Society of San Francisco and the Bay Area Writing Project. She is a parent and step-parent of children of different ages and abilities.
