Mark, Holden student

Each quarter we like to introduce you to a Holden student. Today, we’re excited to share a bit of Mark’s Holden journey with you. Mark completed courses at Laney Community College, works as a Concert Career Pathway Intern for The UC Theater, and is a junior at Holden High School.

“I love the chill Holden environment. At my old school, most kids messed around and had outbursts during class. It’s way easier for me to focus here.”

Before Mark found Holden, he struggled with overcrowded, rowdy classrooms that triggered his ADHD. Holden specializes in creating an environment that empowers teens who learn differently.

“I like that Holden has fidget toys in all of the classrooms. I used to constantly tap my foot or hands to imaginary music in my head. Now I grab something from the fidget box and work with that to help me focus. My favorite item is the cube.”
