Breaking barriers: How Holden supports High School students with learning differences

Navigating high school can be challenging, but the academic journey may be even tougher for students with learning differences. The academic and social demands can be overwhelming from processing difficulties to executive function deficits. Helping students overcome these barriers requires patience, understanding, and tailored support.

“Now, I like school. I never thought I’d say that!”

“Holden has piqued my interest in earning a psychology degree. Having struggled with mental health myself and going to school with others in the same boat makes me interested in how brains work,” Ari says.
“Before Holden, I hated school and cried a lot. Now, I have a lot of support. Teachers listen to me and don’t gaslight me about learning differences,” she explains.
“Holden supports but doesn’t coddle. It pushes me to be my best. I have to earn my privileges through things like community service and clean-up crew that prepare me for life outside of school,” Ari continues.
